Fabric February- Velvets

View our variety of velvet picks on this week's post for Fabric February. We LOVE velvets because of their durability, luster, and texture. A simple linen sofa with gorgeous velvet pillows? Simple perfection!


Brunschwig & Fils: "Soyeux Stripe" in Emerald (we would use this for throw pillows, benches, ottomans, host/hostess chairs.)

Schumacher: "Downtown Velvet" in Byzantine (this fabric is even more gorgeous up-close, and that's why we would use it any and everywhere!)

Manuel Canovas: "Tiana" in Glycine, Blanc (this comes in many other pretty colors, and is so lush in person; it would be the most gorgeous large accent pillows for a bed or sofa.)

February Fabrics- Modern Classics

This week's February Fabrics post is all about some of our favorite classic fabrics with a modern flair to fit into today's world...

Brunschwig & Fils: "Chenonceaux" in Pink/Kumkat (gorgeous for an upholstered headboard or an ottoman.)

Schumacher: "Shanghai Peacock" in Cerise (throw pillows, small benches, or Dining Room chair seats would benefit from this punch fabric the most.)

Schumacher: "Avebury Floral Vine" in Citrine (this elegant and serene fabric would be beautiful draperies or a matching bedskirt and shams in a bedroom.)

Fabric February:"From Nature"

Here are a few of our favorite "nature" inspired fabrics...



Brunschwig & Fils: "Le Zebra" in Beige

Great linen fabric for an ottoman or pillows; brand-new and available in many great colors.

 Kravet: "Kura Kura" in Orkid

A sophisticated beach house fabric that happens to be stain-resistant acrylic-- stylish and practical. We have used it on pillows for some added whimsy. 

Brunschwig & Fils: "Wood" in River

Faux Bois is an organic pattern that looks like tree bark/wood, and it is a classic pattern that has happily experienced a rebirth in the past few years. This would make gorgeous draperies because of the subtle pattern and movement.

Quadrille: "Moroc" in Greens on Oyster

This Leopard-look-alike would be perfect on benches at the foot of a bed or in front of the fireplace. The bright colors it comes in are fresh and punchy.

What's on your coffee table?

Not only do they look elegant stacked on your table or ottoman, coffee table books convey your tastes and interests to your guests. Paired with a small vase of fresh flowers and a hand-poured candle, and voila, the perfect centerpiece for your Living Room! Check out a few of our favorites, especially the last one:

Chalk Paint 101

Need an easy way to update old frames? Using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Duck Egg Blue, we painted over distressed off-white picture frames for a fresh new look. 

1. This was our original distressed frame.

2. We used the color Duck Egg Blue from Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Line

              3. Before and After photos of the newly painted and re-distressed frame! No priming needed just painted right over old frame and distressed with sandpaper.

                                             

4. Completed with mat and photo! 

Layering Rugs

We love a rug with some pattern and color but sometimes it can be too much for a larger space. A unique alternative is to use a neutral area rug layered with a smaller "punchy" accent rug. It's a great way to be bold without being over the top visually.
